Steve and Helen have bred Basset Hounds since 2008. We keep the programme deliberately small: two carefully planned litters a year, both whelped in our home, so every puppy gets hours of handling, household noise, children, vacuum cleaners and car rides before it ever meets you.
Our parent dogs are health-tested for the conditions that matter in the breed, and no puppy leaves before eight weeks. As a trusted Basset Hound breeder, we would rather turn a family away than place a puppy that is not ready.

Second only to the Bloodhound. A Basset follows a scent with total commitment, which is charming in a garden and less charming near a road. Secure fencing and long-line work in open ground are not optional.
Heavy, low, deliberate
Short legs carry a surprisingly dense dog. Keep puppies off stairs and out of car boots until the growth plates close at around twelve months, and keep weight down for life.
Devoted and stubborn
Bassets adore company and dislike being alone. They train beautifully with food and patience, and not at all with volume. Expect an opinion on most things.

Browse the litter
Read each puppy profile, look at the weekly photographs, and note two or three you like rather than one.

Talk with us
A phone call or video chat about your home, your hours and your experience. Twenty minutes, no pressure.

Reserve with a deposit
A $500 deposit holds your puppy and moves you onto the weekly update list until collection week.
4
Homecoming day
Collect in person or arrange accompanied delivery. Paperwork, food and a familiar blanket travel with the puppy.

Frequently asked questions
Are Basset Hounds good with children?
Yes, and unusually so. They are patient, low to the ground and slow to startle, which makes them forgiving with small hands. We raise every litter around children and expect the same in return: teach your children to leave a sleeping hound alone, and you will rarely have a problem.
How much exercise does a Basset Hound need?
Around 45 minutes to an hour a day for an adult, split into two walks, plus scent games at home. Puppies need far less, five minutes per month of age twice a day, until the joints mature. They are not jogging companions and should never be run on hard ground while growing.
Do they drool and shed?
Both, honestly. The loose lips hold water and you will find drool on the doorframes. They shed year-round despite the short coat. A rubber mitt twice a week and a cloth by the water bowl handles most of it.
Are Bassets hard to house-train?
They are slower than average, mostly because they are stubborn rather than slow to learn. Ours are already using a designated toilet area before they leave, and most families report full reliability by four to five months with a consistent routine.
What health testing do the parent dogs have?
Hip and elbow scoring, annual eye examination, and screening for thrombopathia and glaucoma. Certificates for both parents are emailed to every reserving family before any deposit is taken, not after.
